Berling has showed real sensitivity for the environment and mankind, fully complies with legislation and international standards and aims at a sustainable growth respecting the environment and nature. It has designed and is already implementing an Environmental Management System at all stages of the production process.
Thus, since 2006 Berling was certified by the accredited institution EUROCERT for the implementation under ELOT EN ISO 14001:2004 standard and EMAS Regulation of the European Community while the same year, the Department of Public Works approved the registration of the Company with the registry of the Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) with number EL000047.
The ecological orientation of the company has started since many years and continuous with the production of new products.
Within the effort for innovation and respect to the environment, we created in the design and production of the first Greek ecological paint ‘Petite’ which was awarded the first Eco-label from the European Union in April 1998.
In June 2001, The Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy & Climate Change awarded the European Union Eco-label to the product ‘Aqua-Lux’.
Also, the company is in close co-operation with the Ministry and participates actively in the conversations of the European Union about the re-examination of the ecological measures, based on which, the ecological trademark is granted.

All the above conform to the ecological criteria of the European Union (Decision 2009/544/ΕΚ) and have been awarded the eco label sign from ASAOS
Specifically, products that receive ecological certification have the following features: The amount of white pigment is reduced while ensuring adequate coverage, the pigments are produced according to strict ecological criteria, the product releases less solvent, the product does not contain heavy metals or toxic substances.
The company, within its environmental protection orientation, aiming at being constantly up-to-date and at the same time contribute effectively to international efforts of companies to find sustainable methods of development, became a member of the International Programme for Enterprise and the Environment organized by the University of Cambridge under the auspices of the Prince of Wales (HRH The Prince of Wales Business & the Environment Program).
The European Union of Enterprises awarded the continuous attempts of BERLING S.A. for better quality, with the award for ‘high quality of products and services’ in both 1999 and 2000.
The company, recognizing the need to continually improve its environmental performance based on the principles of sustainable development and compliance with laws and international standards, aims for a balanced economic development in harmony with nature.
Within this context of defined ecological concept within its general operations, Berling studied, planned and implemented from the beginning of 2005, the Environmental Management System according to standard ELON EN ISO 14000:2004 and ΕΜΑS Regulation of the European Union. These systems are applied in all departments of the company from management to production, sales and distribution of its products. Furthermore, the new facility has all the necessary environmental permits for operation, ensuring complete non-pollution of air, soil and groundwater.
Berling’s permanent objective and policy, from production design to product disposal, is to ensure environmental protection. This ecological sensitivity and environmental vision are the concepts that underline the company's staff mentality. It is this established environmental consciousness that dictates what we do, and perform in the light of respect towards the environment.
